THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, emphasizing what works best for each client. My preferred modalities are narrative therapy, attachment therapy, and mindful self-compassion techniques:
Narrative therapy centers on your personal story, culture, and beliefs. It is about authoring our own stories about who we are, and not just accepting the stories that others have thrust upon us. Narrative therapy can increase self-confidence and lead to a sense of empowerment.
Attachment therapy explores the familiar emotional schemas you apply to your relationships. Increasing your awareness of the dynamics between you and the people in your life can help you deepen connections, get your own needs met, and understand how to better be there for others. These approaches are especially helpful in my work with couples.
Mindful self-compassion techniques can help you stay grounded and more peacefully endure challenges as they arise. Self-compassion is an essential part of my work with both individuals and couples. When you can be kind, honest, and tender with yourself, you create a well of strength to draw upon in difficult times.
My clients have faced many difficulties, including anxiety, depression, loneliness, relationship issues, shame, identity exploration, and the search for meaning. My practice is offered through an anti-racist, social-justice lens and is LGBTQIA+ affirmative. When you come into session, you can be yourself.
My hope for my clients is that they discover a sense of peace, feel empowered to embody their preferred way of being, and increase their ability to treat themselves with compassion.
The atmosphere I provide is warm, down-to-earth, and non-judgmental. I see a trusting relationship with my client as the key to healing, and I work to create a space that fosters a sense of safety.
